Find Your Personal Style
What defines edgy style? When I think of edgy style, I think of leather, cool black ankle boots, fun rocker tees, and leather leggings. There are 9 common personal style types. Most of us aren’t going to fit into only one of these personal style types. We’ll have two or even three of these style types we identify with. Each of these clothing styles can be casual, dressy, or somewhere in the middle.
If you identify with this style type, here are some ways to incorporate edgy style into your wardrobe.

Edgy Style
Look 1:
In this first look, she’s wearing a turtleneck sweater underneath a moto jacket. She’s paired it with a fitted mini skirt and high black combat boots. She’s added a pair of black chic sunglasses. that feel like this personal style.
Look 2:
In this next look, she is wearing a white button-up shirt which can be a capsule wardrobe essential. Although she has it tucked in, it’s not a clean tuck like you would see in a preppy style type. She’s also wearing it with a pair of black coated jeans and suede ankle booties. This look feels more edgy because of the tougher elements she’s brought in.
Look 3:
Again in this next look, she’s wearing a white button-up shirt. This time she’s styling it under a sweater which we see in the preppy style type, but her sweater is black and oversized, so the silhouette isn’t as streamlined as the preppy style. She’s also wearing it with a black leather mini skirt, black tights, and black edgy ankle boots.
It’s the way she styled the pieces that makes it feel like this personal style. Someone with a preppy style would wear the white button-up shirt tucked in with a pair of blue denim. Instead, she’s bringing in the faux leather skirt, tights, and ankle boots to make this outfit feel more edgy.
Look 4: Joan Smalls
Joan Smalls is another one of my favorite edgy-style celebrities. She’s wearing this cool band-rocker tee with a blazer over it. The blazer is leather so it has that edgy vibe. The fabric choice and color are what make it edgy. She’s pairing it with a cool band tee instead of a plain one and her jeans are distressed. She’s finishing this look with a pair of black leather ankle boots.
Look 5: Joan Smalls
In this look, she’s wearing a long suede trench coat in a neutral color. This could fit into a boho style, but Joan Smalls has styled this trench coat with edgy elements like a pair of black leather skinny jeans. Again, she’s wearing a rocker band tee that’s off-shoulder and she has a simple black leather choker necklace. A boho style would instead have multiple layers of necklaces and gravitate more toward earthy colors. An edgy style tends to gravitate more towards black colors. She does wear a classic pump, but because of the other styling elements, it feels more edgy. Additionally, the dark lip she has on adds to the edgy feel.
Look 6:
In this next photo, the model is wearing a graphic tee and a black leather jacket. Even though her jeans are a light denim wash, they’re distressed. She’s pairing them with a pair of black ankle boots to make the whole look feel edgy.
Look 7: Kendall Jenner
The next celebrity I identify with this edgy style type is Kendall Jenner. Sometimes Kendall Jenner is a trendy style type, but in this particular look her style is edgier. She’s wearing a moto jacket over a distressed gray sweatshirt hoodie. She’s pairing it with black denim and black ankle boots. She also has a black leather bag and sunglasses to tie in the whole feel of this look. If she was doing a trendy look, then we might see her wearing an oversized leather jacket and a cargo pant.
Look 8: Giselle Bundchen
In this last look, we have Gisele Bundchen. She’s wearing head-to-toe black, and although monochrome is big in a classic or minimal style, the difference is the fabric choice of her pants. Her leggings are faux leather and feel more edgy instead of wool leggings that a classic style might have. Her sweater is oversized and she’s wearing it with a pair of black ankle boots. A minimal style type would wear a simple shoe and a softer pant fabric like cotton.
